The infrared turned this photo into a more emotional one, framing the barn in light and using the gray sky as a useful backdrop. The infrared camera doesn’t like bright sunlight, it prefers cloudy skies or gray ones.
This is the first of my photos that I think resembles a painting, it frames the barn in just the right way, as a lonely figure in rural America, past its prime and running out of time.
Modern farms build ugly aluminum barns, they require no maintenance, have no bats or rats. This is a ghost barn, as all of the old red barns are, including ours.
