Maria and I recorded our sixth podcast today, and it is a fairly wild one. We talk about our impending trip to meet two Giant Octopuses in the Boston Aquarium, The Professor and Freyer.
(We’ve gotten over 1,000 downloads and plays of our podcasts before it is even registered. Thanks.)
Maria and I have gotten very interested in octopouses ever since we read Sy Montgomery’s book “Soul Of An Octopus.” Montgomery is, in my mind, the greatest living animal writer.
We learned how extraordinary these animals are, how deeply they attach to people, and their many skills and techniques for keeping themselves safe.
Our podcast discussion widened into a break talk on what animals mean to us.
Sy Montgomery is always worth reading, and I am grateful to her for opening my eyes on the lives of many animals, including octopus and pigs.
We’ll report back on our Octopus Excursion, we’re going to Boston on Sunday, returning Monday.
We also talked about yet another shocking Bud happening, he seems very much in love with Suzy, one of our Cheviot sheep who seems to be in heat. She is wiggling her butt at Bud, a ewe’s method of enticing a ram. Bud is very interested, he is trying to find a way to mount her.
Suzy and Red are always looking for one another out in the pasture. I’m trying to break them up.
I think Bud and I need to sit down and have a long talk. I need to tell him that this can’t happen, even if were medically possible, it is not physically possible. Lord. I’ve had dogs and sheep for 15 years, this is another first.
Boston Terriers clearly don’t have any testosterone shortage in their blood.
On the podcast, we also discussed a dispute Maria and I are having about Dish Stacking, I am accusing her of irresponsible dish stacking, she is accusing me of being a lousy dishwasher. It’s getting ugly.
She claims her haphazard stacking (we love many dishes) is really an art form, a sculpture.
Come and listen. We are already getting hundreds of hits and downloads.
We are loving our foray into podcasting. You can listen to our newest podcast (our podcast brand, Katz and Wulf On Bedlam, is in the process of being registered on Itunes and Google) in two ways.
By going to this link and listening to the audio.
Or by downloading the podcast here to save for later as an mp3 file.
Love the podcast!
I think Bud & Suzy being ‘in love’ is just hilarious. Can you imagine? You’d have to name their offspring ‘Budlamb of Bedlam’! 🙂
And, the dishes! I can’t stop laughing about the stacking of the dishes! Lucky you are happy just picking up glasses from the thrift store. It is really amazing what you can find in the thrift stores; I have a great time exploring the ones around here!
And, you’ve sure given me a lot to think about regarding octopuses! Never would have EVER given them a second thought until you brought them up! 🙂
