The New Dog, by Linda Pastan
“Into the gravity of my life,
the serious ceremonies
of polish and paper,
and pen, has come
this manic animal
whose innocent disruptions
make nonsense
of my old simplicities
as if I needed him
to prove again that after
all the careful planning,
anything can happen.”
“Anything can happen” should be on an official document given to everyone who acquires a Boston Terrier, for sure. One mine once “buried” a stick of butter under my daughter’s pillow, so on a hot summer night she went to bed &. . .
I love that poem! It made me smile. It sure fits the picture, too!
This Sat. we meet our puppy and take her home. Thank you for the reminder of the sweet
chaos she will bring.
