On The Radio: What Dogs Think…

by Jon Katz

WBTNAM1370 (On The Radio, Moose and Thomas)

I like the turn the radio show is taking.

We’re on every Wednesday (not the 10th of March) from one to three p.m. Thomas and I kick off each hour with a discussion, and then we open the show up to callers. Maria calls at the top of the second hour, we talk for about a half an hour about our lives with animals.

We are both loving this joint segment, Thomas and I have named Maria our roving correspondent. The show focused on animal intelligence and consciousness, it was a much needed and fascinating subject, I hope to continue this conversation over the next few weeks.

I am much impressed with the thoughtfulness and relevance of the callers and their questions. Calls make the broadcast, there is no way around it. We are getting there.

I’m talking next week about how to train smart dogs and not-so-smart dogs. Send questions in advance to [email protected].

The phone system is working most of the time, Thomas turns off the phones when we need to talk, and then turns them on when we are done. People are beginning to call and e-mail me. We’ll see where it goes. I’m hopeful.

Friday, Red and I will appear together on stage at the Oldcastle Theater Company in Bennington, Vt. I’m telling The Story Of Red in his honor. People are asking me if my talk will be recorded or videotapes, I don’t want to do that, but thank for thinking of it.

Check us out next week on WBTNAM1370. The show is being re-broadcast right now, and every Wednesday night.

  1. Jon please think about recording your talk in Reds honour. I would love to hear it as I’m sure many others of your followers would. We all feel we know him so well through your blogs.

    1. I appreciate that Pauline, I will write about Red and his story on the blog, I’m just not comfortable having it recorded, it would distract me and make me uncomfortable and I want to do it right for Red’s sake. People here will get plenty of Red, and I thank you for caring.
