Bob And Fate: How Dogs Can Unite Us

by Jon Katz

I am fond of Bob, who works at our town recycling station, he is a kind and honest man. He and Fate are very fond of each other and their friendship makes me wonder once again how different our government might be if there was a dog in the White House or in the Senate or House of Representatives. Bob and I do not  talk politics, and I have no idea what his believes are.

But we share a love of dogs that is deep and genuine,  dogs always reveal their feelings. If we can united in our love of dogs, couldn’t that be a window to come together on other things as well. Dogs give me hope that we can and will come together. It can happen.

  1. A dog in the White House would be so much better than what’s in there now! Socialized dogs generally get along very well, unless you put a wall between them; The minute that wall goes up, dogs become territorial and protective. Dogs who once greeted everyone with licks and wags can suddenly show signs of aggression. If it were up to dogs to decide if there should be a wall, they would not choose to erect one because they know what can happen as a result.
