I want to acknowledge the $5 people, they grace my Post Office Box almost every day, their messages are simple and hand-written.

Most come from our forgotten heartland, the places we left behind.

I appreciate these messages so much $5 is a lot of money to many people in our country, and these warriors of love send me their letters from everywhere. The reach of the blog never fails to astound me.

This one came from E. Dobbs in Indianapolis. She (I assume it’s a she) thanked me for my photographs and also for posting happy videos about Bud. It is a pleasure E. Dobbs.

The thought of you taking the time to write and send me this letter with a $5 bill folded neatly inside lifts my heart. A great way to begin my day, I am grateful to you. Every penny will go to a good place for a good reason.
