In recent weeks I’ve received a lot of messages from people who have signed up to receive the blog in their mailbox daily reporting that they are no longer receiving the blog. We’ve pored over the software and this side and are finding that some people who signed up via e-mail (this is a free service, no charge for it) are just not getting it.
We don’t know how many and we don’t know why, but I’ve decided to switch feed services from Feedburner to a new service called Specific Feeds. I appreciate that people who receive the blog daily care enough about it to let me know (sometimes not happily) when they stop receiving it.
I am sorry for that, but grateful that you care. Feedburner is a free feed service, it is owned by Google and hasn’t been updated since 2007. That seems to be where the problem is. Some browsers stop picking it up.
Feedburner is free, Specific Feeds will cost me about $13.50 a month, but we think it will resolve those issues. There will be no charge for you. The daily feed is free, it has no connection to voluntary payments or subscriptions.
Mannix Marketing, my Web designer and builder, is working with Specific Feeds to import the thousands of Bedlam Farm Feedburner subscribers into the new account we are creating with them.
You can sign up for daily free delivery of the blog by going to the bottom of the Farm Journal Page and typing in your e-mail. If you do it now, it will be automatically migrated to Specific Feeds. You can cancel your subscription at any time.
I am sorry for this aggravating inconvenience. The changeover will not take long, and I appreciate your loyalty and interest. And thanks again for letting me know, without your messages we have no way of knowing anything is wrong.
Would love to receive what you are writing in any form. I used to be in touch with Jon when I was living alone in DC, apart from my family. I was grinding it out as an inner city social worker. Tough, necessary work, and so gratifying. I followed you to your first farm, and now I have to catch up with you. I have your latest book on tape, so I’ll begin to catch up. I live in Plymouth, MA in a cozy house with a wonderful new wife.
Thanks for being there.
Thanks for following, Peter, much appreciated..sounds like a good life…
Hi Jon – I went to the bottom of the page and entered my email address as you suggested in order to continue receiving your blog. The message read that I am already subscribed. Hope that this means I will be switched over to the new server because your blog starts my morning (along with my coffee) every day and I would be lost without it. Thanks.
Yes, you will automatically be switched to the new feeder service..Let us know if you have any problems..
I have this same problem. Somehow your daily entries started going to my Junk Mail (nothing personal!). And now every time I try to renew my signup, like Rosemary, I am told I am already a subscriber. I hope my name is in that group of transferees. I have managed to keep up, by just keeping an old Bedlam Farm email, opening it when I want to see what’s new and old, And magically starting from the current date, your entries are opened. From there, I use Previous and/or Old posts, and read until I hit one that I already saw! I have joined Specific Feeds. Not sure what it is or how it works. I’ll have to see. I am having exactly the same issues with Maria’s blog, and have been dealing with it the same way.
AND I love winter for exactly the reasons you do. I love snuggling. Just wish I had someone I love to chat with about a book, a thought, or a movie, while sitting by the fire. Sigh…
Neew format coming tomorrow for blog mail…check it out..
Sign up to Specific Feeds
Love you blog and photos
Jon, I always enjoy your blog – hope I continue to receive it.
Jon, I always enjoy your blog – hope I continue to receive it.
Always..
Jon, I truly appreciate your blog. I end every day with it. Love how you share your life so openly with all of us; you welcome us all in. Sincerely, Robin in NC
I just have to tell you how much I love the new feed!! I can read my favorite blog so easily. It is so much easier on my well-used eyes. Every morning without fail, this blog is my go to at 4:30 a.m. I never had a problem receiving your blog but this is much better!! Thank you to both you and Maria, Red, Bud, Fate and all the inhabitants at the farm, for all you do for all of us. Thank you for the integrity and the daily vacation from the bitterness of others. My mom always told us that attitude can make a person or break a person. My attitude is “yes Virginia, there is beauty in the world”. All we have to do is open our eyes and change the lenses with which we wish to view it through. I choose to be part of the solution…not the problem. You all are very much appreciated.
