Red went to see Dr. Fariello (and Nicole) at the Cambridge Valley Vet yesterday for his monthly acupuncture treatment. He was edgy the first few times we did this, but accepts it with comfort now. I think dogs know when people are trying to help them.
Dr. Fariello is a passionate advocate of acupuncture treatment for dogs, and it has been a miracle treatment for Red, who had severe spinal injuries that were paralyzing at one point. The treatment takes about 25 minutes and costs $80.
I see it helps Red tremendously, he moves fluidly and without pain. Dr. Fariello can tell where the sensitivity is by how the needle does or doesn’t slip inĀ easily. It is painless for the dog. We’ll do it again in March.
My daughter, who by miracle has lived through someone texting and rear-ending her…is also going to have acupuncture for her treatment. She had neurosurgery immediately following being hit, reattaching some nerves, behind her forehead. She had plastic surgery on the split across her forehead, but she will have group acupuncture at the University of Tucson Medical Center. She studies in the field of medicine, and is up for this ,as am I. Things don’t exist for thousands of years, ie. acupuncture and other healing practises, without a good reason.
