Send Me Your Tired, Your Poor, Your Hats

by Jon Katz

I am reluctant to set off an onslaught of hats to my little Post Office, but our Hat Party last night with the displaced Mansion residents was a huge hit.

I’m thinking this can be a regular event. Last night, I used up some of the hats I owned and some of those I have been given or sent. If you have interesting, colorful or unusual hats – this is about identity after all – please consider sending them to me, Jon Katz, P.O. Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.

I’d like to try a weekly hat give away. The hats, I see, are another way for the residents to express themselves and their individuality, to laugh and connect with one another, and with you. On Wednesday, we will be hosting a Mansion Homecoming Celebration (I have my radio show then also).

Our hat party was so much fun, I’d like to keep it going. Please don’t send junk hats or stuff you want to throw away. If you have a hat or two that is warm, interesting, different or just fun, please consider sending it. An inexpensive way to bring some real fun and happiness to the Mansion. Thanks much for thinking about it.

I’ll post a new resident list shortly, they love getting your letters. They also love the “About My Town” photos and descriptions you have been sending them. They will be going up on the Mansion bulletin boards once the residents return.

If you are willing to send a photo or two or three paragraph of your town, that would be great. Please send it to Julie Harlin, Mansion Activities Director, 11 S. Union Avenue, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.

Send the hats to me. Thanks.
