Beautiful Cake For The Mansion Staff

by Jon Katz

This morning, I’m bringing this beautiful cake – made by Lisa Carrino of the Round  House Cafe And Bakery – to the staff at the Mansion, the evacuation several weeks ago of most of their residents has been hard on everyone, and I thought this might cheer them up.

I believe this ordeal is coming to an end, the residents are expected to return to the Mansion shortly, but I’ll know more today. Next week, the Army Of Good is sponsoring a Homecoming Celebration once the work is completed and everyone is back.

I’m going over to the Danforth Adult Care Center later today with some hats for Sylvie and some more books. The displaced residents have struggled to cope with this sudden and dramatic change in their lives. The staff has worked hard to keep their spirits up, the Army Of Good has been heroic, supplying the residents with stuffed animals, flowers, books, puzzles, paper crafts and personal necessities.

I wanted you to see the cake before it is eagerly devoured. Lisa is much more than a baker, she is an artist, she graduated from the Rhode Island School Of Design (RISD) and her art is apparent in everything she makes.

Thanks so much for your support, you have made a huge difference.
