Visiting the adult care center where the Mansion “refugees” as I call them are temporarily being housed, has made me appreciate the Mansion and it’s staff all the more, and I already loved the place.
I was at the Mansion this afternoon reading stories to the residents, who are desperate to get back to the Mansion. Julie came and took out her “Conversation Cards,” and suddenly, everyone in the room was joining in.
This kind of activity goes on all day at the Mansion, but not in most adult care centers. Other places I’ve been seem sterile and devoid of life to me. The Mansion seems like home, with all of its imperfections and comforts.
I thought it would be interesting to see how Julie works all of the time to keep the residents engaged, and exercises their minds.
