Pinhole Perspective

by Jon Katz

This view is on of the most photographed at Bedlam Farm, and I wanted to see what the Pinhole lens could make of it. Pinhole photography has its own ideas about color and light, and it operates independently of all of the gadgetry we use on our digital cameras.

This is very pure photography, and since I can’t see through viewfinder or adjust the focus, the Pinhole is an independent spirit, it does what it wants. I liked this perspective it is different but engaging. It tells its own story.

With every new lens, I get to see the world in a new and different way. I love that.

  1. My Dad told me a story when I was young about when he was a student at RIT. A professor took the class out for a photo shoot. Dad took his Speed Graphic and the other students also took the latest cameras. The prof took a simple pinhole camera and came back with the best photos!
