Red continues to improve. Last night, he climbed up the stairs to sleep on the floor alongside me, something he has done ever since he came to live with me.
This morning, I took him out to the pasture – no work or running or herding – I asked him to sit and watch while we fed the sheep and the donkeys. He sat quietly and I think it is good for him to feel a part of things, but I am not letting him exercise or move quickly or work with the sheep.
He was out for about 10 minutes. The sheep seemed to know he was off the clock, they just ignored him.
Red slept well last night, ate this morning and seems at ease. He is sleeping my my chair in my study.
He is movingly stiffly, but not as stiffly as yesterday. I hope this is a good track we can stay on, I am feeling easier about him, although I am concerned his paralysis may recur. I think Dr. Fariello’s plan is coming together, it appears this is related to a spinal fracture.
I am again feeling okay that we did not rush to a specialist, an emergency clinic or request additional tests like MRI’s. This isn’t about money, but I want to be aware of money. So far, we’ve spent about $500 on tests and medications.
We are continuing his anti-inflammatory medications. Acupuncture on Monday.
I’m comfortable with where Red is now, and comfortable with where we are. We expected the best, are prepared for the worst. Thanks again for your support, I sure felt the good energy, I’m sure Red did as well.
Next update this afternoon or evening. Thanks for supporting the new RISSE Amazon Wish List.
The soccer team needs shorts for their new uniforms. You are sending a lot of good stuff out into the world.

At l p.m.Today, the 28th of November, I’ll be at WBTNAm (1370) in Bennington, Vt. doing my broadcast, “Talking To Animals,” with Thomas Toscano, the station director.
The broadcast will only be one hour today, the first hour, as I’ve got to be at the Mansion at 2:30 for the inauguration of our new Karaoke Machine. We have a big sing planned.
Angel of Good Commander LoAnn Sanders will be there with some friends to help us celebrate and eat some cookies.
The topic I want to address at the beginning of the show is “Can we Love Our Dogs And Pets Too Much?” Too much love isn’t good for dogs, research shows, and it isn’t always good for people either.
You can live stream the broadcast here. You can call the broadcast free of charge: 866 406-9286. The station is having some technical difficulties with their website, if you can’t live stream, you can hear the broadcast on any radio App, including Simple Radio.
You will be able to call the station, the phones are working, and I hope you do.
You can also e-mail me your questions or comments anytime [email protected], I’ll have my Iphone with me in the studio. If you live outside of the Southern Vermont listening area, the number is 866 442-6321, if you live in the listening area, it’s 802 442-1010.
Red will be staying home for the next week or so, no therapy work, not running around. I will let him come and sit in the pasture, it’s good for him, but he is a good boy, if I ask him to stay, he will. I can’t say that about all the dogs I’ve know, or even have.

I’m also excited because Maria is launching her new “support my work” program on her blog. If you like the photos or videos or writing she’s doing, you can now pay her for this work, sending small donations when and if you feel like it.
Like me, she has come to be comfortable getting paid for her work, she also gives a lot of images away for free, but they do cost money to make and once in awhile, people can acknowledge their appreciation of that.
We both resisted this for the longest time. We both decided it is good to be paid for our work. She is not seeking continuing payments or subscriptions, just the occasional small contribution, something she does all the time when she sees work she loves online.
This is a big step for Maria. Once upon a time, she thought her work was worthless. She doesn’t think that any longer.
She just posted one of the sketches she worked on for a couple of hours last night. Good for her. I’d send her $5, but she’d hurt me.
Check it out here.
I’ve been missing your posts on FB. Any reason for that. I enjoy reading your posts
Hey Donna, my posts have been up on facebook and on my blog every day…have no idea why you might not be getting..facebook is mysterious…
It makes people happy to pay you and Maria for your “work”–your artistry with words and pictures in so many different forms. I hope you both always remember that, when you accept our paltry giving back to you for these bountiful gifts to us, you are giving us yet another reason to be happy people! (Sorry for such a run-on sentence.)
It was a great sentence…
Jon, I have tried to give to Risse, but the connection you gave connects to Maria’s site… am I doing something wrong? I am not the most computer savy!
Not sure, Melinda, I’ll check it, but it seems to be working…
Melinda, it wasn’t your fault, there was a bad link in there, it has been fixed and thanks for your patience.
I just figure out Risse and made a gift donation in Reds honor. May he continue to be an inspiration in good health.
So glad to hear that Red is doing better…please give him some head pats and scratches from me!!
Carol
Just seeing the photo made my heart sing. More, more, more healing wishes coming your way.
This is awesome. Red has to do his job to feel good, and he has to feel good to do his job! Take the good times for all they’re worth. Tell Red he’s got cyberspace cheering for him!
