WBTN put up a new Amazon WBTN Wish List today, this one has three items on it, ranging from $24.99 to $149.00. It’s more expensive than the last two, but much more urgently needed.
Thomas Toscano is beginning the long and arduous tasks of slowly rebuilding the production and broadcasting elements of WBTN. Those of you who have called or listened to the broadcast have a sense of what is needed there – everything.
WBTN is a non-profit broadcast station.
Thomas is asking for a new 21 inch monitor for the computer where all of the station’s production work is done. That costs $149.
He is seeking a new DVD/CD recorder for the production computer, that costs $24.99.
And finally, a new SSD hard drive for the production computer, which costs $146.00.
It’s more money than scotch tape and desk organizers, but the station is in awful technological shape.
“Great to spend time with you on Wednesday,” wrote Thomas to me today, “I’m having such a wonderful time doing the show with you.”
Ditto.
“I realize that these are a bit pricey,” he added “but our Radio Engineer – Chuck – was in here today and pointed out the problems with my computer because of is age, etc. I asked him to make some recommendations and this is what he suggested. I made sure everything is available on Amazon, of course, and the Monitor is the only one remaining there.”
People have to make their own decisions about what to spend and where, and I wouldn’t push anyone in one direction or another.
The station is, to me, a good cause, the kind of media we can hardly afford to have perish. I hope I can help them.
But it’s a personal and individual choice, and thanks for considering it. I bought the DVD recorder, so just two items left.
Also, I’d like to give the Mansion residents who are able, a small amount of money to buy some small Christmas gifts for their favorite aides and a few of their friends. I think about 15-20 of the residents could use this help.
Nothing fancy, but several of the residents asked me if I could help them with this, they have no money for gifts. I’m looking to collect $300 for this, if anyone wants to help. If so, you can send your contribution to me, Jon Katz, P.O. Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816, or via Paypal, [email protected]. Please mark the money “Resident Gifts,” and thanks.
Thanks for doing what you can when you can. This is a season for helping, I think, and doing good. That is always better than arguing about what good is.
