The first leg of the Soccer Team’s Vacation Week kicked off today when Ali and half the team (we’re rotating people on these excursions to keep costs down) went out on Lake George on the Minnie-Ha-Ha, an old steamboat from the Lake George Steamboat Authority.
They deserved it. They all have honors grades in their school, one had the highest honors in their school, and the soccer team is undefeated.
With your help (The Rocket Donations idea- small donations from lots of people for smaller things – works!) we filled out their week. Boat ride today, lake tomorrow, Bedlam Farm on Wednesday, movies on Thursday, Animal Park on Friday, some snacks in between.
Ali texted me this photo while they were out on the water in the middle of the lake. He said they were having a blast. I have to say I did want to go along on this one, but of course the ticket should go to one of the team, I can go anytime. Thanks for your help. I think we have enough money for the week now, Ali says some of the kids have never been out on water before, this is a great treat for them.
After the boat ride, some food in Lake George. Thanks to the Army Of Good.
I’m so glad these kids are getting all these wonderful, new experiences. You and Ali are quite a pair. In light of the current immigration debacle in the south, as well as the Supreme Court questionable decision about the Muslim ban today, I have constantly thought how fortunate your refugees are to get all you (our) wonderful help. It was such great news to hear how well they are doing in school. That is remarkable. And I’m very excited about the women’s group they will be starting. Friends among women are so very important. I hope we will hear what they are doing.
Thanks Susie, Ali and I are a great team, and the worse the news gets, the more inspired we get…These kids are remarkable and they are very worthy of support..they give the lie to the slanders being made about refugees..
