Maria made this beautiful quilt a week ago, she called it “The Trust Quilt.” Is is the first quilt she has made in over a year that didn’t sell immediately, this is the artist’s life. Creatives who don’t get paychecks often wonder if their moment has passed when it takes a few days to sell something, they wonder if they are suddenly over.
It happens.
I have assured her this is not the case, and for fun, she wrapped the quilt around her today and let me take a photograph of her. It is a beautiful quilt, and I have no question that it will sell, she is charging $400 for a custom made quilt, which seems a bit low to me, but not to her. She is insistent that her works be affordable.
I told her she ought to trust her Trust Quilt. It is quite lovely and someone will want it. You can see it on her red-hot Etsy page (where she is definitely not over._
In any case, I love this photo, it is beautiful to see her beloved art wrapped around her. It just looks right, and not at all like someone whose time is up. You can see her own photo of the quilt (I took it) on her website.
I love this picture of Maria. I would buy the quilt in 2 seconds if I had the money!
