Shorn: Zelda

by Jon Katz
Shorn

Zelda is our oldest sheep, she’s about 11 years old, she used to be a terror, knocking me and Red down, charging into and over fences. She is quieter now, losing her front teeth, letting Liz hold her in a tight grip without a struggle. She has seen it all, and is rattled by nothing much.

I appreciate how the shearers trim off the wool in a long and clean sheet. It is quite amazing to see how they hold the sheep still while they work. Liz knows her stuff. Maria has some great wool to take to Vermont, she’s putting up a bunch of shearing videos on her blog.
