Vermont is its own world. Because most of the state has kept the carnivorous box stores out, the small town have kept their diners and shops and sense of community. This has been lost in so many parts of the Corporate Nation. To see what we have lost and could have kept, be sure to stop at the Wooden Soldier Diner in the middle of Fairhaven.
It was opened in 1950 and the people who came on the first day would see that not one thing has changed since then. It is a wonderful and enchanting place. And the breakfast egg and cheese sandwich was just incredible.
