Forest On Fire. For Sale

by Jon Katz
Forest On Fire

Walking in the deep woods, in awe of the glorious last stand of the leaves, I took this photo with my Petzval 58 art lens, Russian glass. I was at the top of a long path into the woods. It seemed as if the forest was on fire.

The photo is for sale and is in the photo-for-sale- gallery.

The print size is 8 12 x 13 1/2, the image will be signed but unframed and cost $130. The contact is Maria – maria@fullmoonfiberart. Thanks for the many good comments about it.

  1. I commented before on the beauty of this wonderful photograph. I was curious to know what Russian glass means when you are describing the lens that you are using. Does that help to capture a different feel to the photo? I enjoy photography so much, and your photos are a whole new learning experience for me!! P.S. Also loved the story and photo of Gus on the furniture. A delightful read, and brought smiles and laughter to my day!

    1. Thanks Barbara, I’m not an optics specialist, but Russian glass is cut in a thick way to deepen color in the background of photos, it captures light and color differently, creates more of a painterly effect sometimes, when the light is right and the color is in the right place. Very tricky to use, as you can’t use auto focus and you never quite know what the lens will do..I love the excitement of it and the fact that you have to learn much more about light than you have to learn with a digital camera…hope that helps..Best..
