After weeks of persistence, Gus got Red to play this morning. I have never seen Red play with any dog in any way. Gus is persistent he kept teasing and enticing Red, Red studiously ignored him, as if he was much too dignified to play with a little dog.
This morning, Gus climbed onto Red’s head and started chewing on him, Red responded (with dignity) but it was definitely a breakthrough for Gus. Red will not run around like a mad dog the way Fate will, but he had his few moments of playing. It was kind of remarkable to see.
Gus does not quit. Come and see.
Jon … That was sooooo worth watching! I couldn’t help laughing to see Gus shoving his WHOLE HEAD into Red’s mouth. And Red stopped playing as soon as you spoke, as though he had been caught doing something below his dignity. I love that you love all your animals enough to allow them to be themselves and you seem to know the character of each one. Thank you for today’s video … and every day’s blogs.
I’ve got a title for your next book Jon – The little dog who never gives up!!!
Wow, that was great…is there anything Gus can’t do??
So CUTE! 🙂 🙂
Red loves him.
Amazing! Thanks so much for “catching” the action and sharing it with us!
I echo Nora, love how you just allow your animals to be themselves. This is a gift that you have, Jon.
Thanks Karla, I appreciate it I try very hard to let the dogs be dogs and see where they go. I’m lucky to live in a place where it’s safe to do it and there’s space to do it.
