From time to time, I am reminded of the truly great power some animals have to heal and comfort, even for a few moments. When we came to the Mansion today, we learned of the death of Bruce, the longest resident of the Mansion, he had been there for 10 years. One of the residents was crying, Red came over to her and just bend his head against her leg, she leaned over and held him close.
I had never seen him do that before, it was a gesture of great empathy and connection, it provided great love and comfort. A dog like Red cannot alter reality or change outcomes, he simply allows people to feel what they need to feel.
