In just a few weeks, my 25th book, “Talking To Animals: How We Can Understand Them And They Can Understand Us,” will be published by Simon and Schuster. The book is the story of my life-long efforts to communicate with animals. It is also a call for a new and wiser understanding of animals than we now have.
Their very survival in our world depends on keeping them in our everyday lives and finding humane and productive work for them to do.
I’ll also be reading from the book and signing copies at the Bedlam Farm Open House, June 10-11.
Connie Brooks of Battenkill Books, my local independent bookstore, is taking pre-orders for the book, she already has 500. The next 500 will get a free and very classy tote-bag with an image of a dog and a message: “sit, stay, read.” We’re shooting for 1,000 pre-orders before pub date, which is May 5. On May 2, I’ll be doing my only local reading at 7 p.m. at Battenkill on Main Street in Cambridge.
Battenkill Books is a wonderful bookstore, they have a competent and very friendly staff, they take Paypal and major credit cards, and I will sign and personalize each book. You can also call the bookstore at 518 677 7136. Thanks for thinking about it. You can pre-order here.
