People all over the country are suffering from extreme weather and we joined them yesterday afternoon and evening when a truly epic windstorm came roaring over the fields and valley in which we live, winds and gusts of up to 60 mph. The wind blew the wicker furniture off the porch, the snow shovels went sailing through the air, so did the fiber chair, the lids came off the garbage cans, scattered the chairs outside and rattled the winds of our sturdy little farmhouse.
I was sitting in the living room reading when a chair blew into the window, I thought it was a tornado. This morning, our deep freeze ended, it was 42 degrees in the morning when we got up, we had a bunch of things to set straight, but there was no real damage, the animals were fine, the ice is melting. I give thank to our forbears, they knew what they were doing when they built this farm.
