Many animals show love and connection by touching noses, their own way of showing love. Red is completely accepting of Fate, he seems to be ignoring her, but he is actually accepting her, and she adores  him. Every now and then, she sits down next to him and touches her nose to him. It is a beautiful tableau of the way animals talk to one another, and also to us.
