Scott and Dominick have known one another a long time, Scott is a mentor to Dominick and a friend. Dominick works at the Round House Cafe during the week and also works seamlessly with Scott on Friday Pizza night, the two set up a tent behind the cafe, and make scores of pizza together in Scott’s two wood-fired portable ovens.
It is a challenging time for Scott, he is trying to figure out if he will be able to purchase the Round House Cafe fromĀ his landlord, or, as isĀ possible, he will have to look somewhere else in town for the cafe to move. I imagine has a number of other options as well, but he hasn’t said. The landlord has raised his rent and put “for sale” signs in the windows of the cafe, causing many people to think the cafe is going out of business.
It isn’t, but it is hard and never-ending work. Scott and Lisa have high standards, and they maintain them.
They are working hard, and every day of the weekend. Dominick was happy tonight, he got his driving permit, he usually ride is bike four or five miles to and from work. It is a pleasure to watch the two of them work together, words are only occasionally necessary, they have all of their fresh cheeses and vegetables prepared in plastic containers, and they go steadily through the order slips hung up in the tent they set out outside in the cold.
No instructions are exhortations are necessary, Dominick seems to love the challenge and responsibility.
Scott looks tired to me, I hope he gets things resolved soon, he is a good and big-hearted man and a dear friend.
