Deb, a three year old Border-Leicester, the surviving twin of Ma, became disoriented this afternoon, spinning down, losing her balance, panting heavily. She seemed almost blind, unable to stay with the sheep and hugging the fence line in order to get back to the Pole Barn.
I know that sick sheep rarely survive, but we are doing what we can. The Granville Large Animal Hospital is on the way, and we got Deb into the stall in the barn. She seems in great distress. I’m never optimistic when sheep fall ill, but we’ll see what happens when Jason, our large animal vet, gets here this afternoon.
