You have to look closely for a second to see that there is a donkey by that fence, it is Fanny, taking in the afternoon sun, using the apple tree as a kind of suns screen. Donkeys do not sunburn, they are desert animals, they know how to soak up the sun in winter and deflect it in the summer. Fanny is a sweet creature, she knows how to do nothing and contemplate the world.  This is her way of saying hello, we were sitting just a few feet away.
