The white birch in the woods seems to have a life of its own, the bark peels and curls and evolves, it almost seems alive. Perhaps it is alive. The Kabbalah says that if the light were completely hidden the world would not exist even for a moment. The light is hidden and sown like a seed that gives birth to other seeds and fruit. Thus the world is sustained.
