In the winter, Fate startled us by skating on the ice. When it warmed up,, she tried *unsuccessfully” to flush out the frogs. Now, she has turned her attention to collecting sticks and twigs that blow or fall into the water. She circles the edges of the pond, the waits for the wind or the water to push the sticks close enough so she can grab them and pull them out.
She is very serious in this work, and I am not sure what her intentions are. She doesn’t chew the sticks, she piles them up on the dry ground, and then goes and finds another one. Fate’s capacity to find work anywhere just astonishes us sometimes. This was a big stick too, as long as she is.
