It was – 20 on the barn thermometer this morning, Red’s breath froze on his face and coat when he moved, we were only outside five or six minutes, he didn’t flinch or slow down, he was ready to work. If the cold bothered him, he didn’t show it. I think if I forget him in that cold and left him outside, I would come out and find him frozen to the ground. Fate did not seem to notice the cold, she hopped and skipped and ran all over the place.
The pasture gate was so brittle the frame broke in pieces when I tried to close it. We’ll need to replace it as soon as it warms up. Farms are like that, something unexpected all the time. I’m taking Maria out to Valentine’s Day Brunch.
