Lulu In Pain. SOS For The Farrier

Lulu started limping badly this morning, she could not put pressure on her right front leg. We called Ken Norman, our farrier and friend, and he came by this afternoon, it was a grim day in the pouring rain. We got Lulu and Fanny into the old cow stall in the barn. Ken thinks Lulu has an abscess – her hoof and ankle were warm. He trimmed her hooves but couldn’t see it.

He’s coming back on Sunday if she isn’t better. I’m pretty certain that he is right and it is an abscess, he can’t really treat it until it reveals itself so Lulu will have to hurt for a bit. Fanny has had several, but this is a first for Lulu, I think. Ken has a new LED light that he can bring into a barn so he can see what’s happening. Good for photography, for sure.

Lulu was gracious and easy, we didn’t have to put a halter on her, she stood still for Ken as he worked on her legs. Lulu has known Ken practically for her whole life.
