I’ve been working help Fate test her eye, and Jim McRae, our shearer and a highly respected herding trainer watched the dogs herd the sheep yesterday. He suggested spending more time with Fate in corners with the sheep so there was less movement and she could test the sheep with her, find her comfort zone.

It’s hard to do when everyone is moving fast, so she needs some face time with the sheep, which we have been getting. This morning, I had Red put the sheep into a corner and he and Fate put some eye on them. Jim was impressed with Fate’s drive, with the work we had done, and with Fate’s determination. Neat to see the two of them sparking off of each other that way.
