I knew of Red’s graciousness and gentleness, but Fate’s presence had made me see it in a new and powerful way. He is a forgiving and accepting dog, I see it all the time in his therapy work, even in his sheepherding. A few weeks ago, his world was invaded by a rambunctious and intense puppy who follows him around, chews on his head, tries to steal his treats. Red is a good friend to his new companion, he rarely loses his temper, and then, just briefly and with a growl or two. He is happy to share his precious work with Fate, and I believe he is trying to show her things she needs to know.
On our walk this morning, I asked the two of them to lie down, and both did right away. I am fortunate to have two dogs like this.
