I think the apple tree out in the pasture is the spiritual center of the farm. Simon and Ma are buried in graves to the left of it, it casts the longest shadow on the farm, it sits in the center of the pasture, it is a beautifully formed and evolved tree, I come out to the shadow sometimes to find strength.
