It is a gorgeous day in Bedlam, we are up early and heading out for breakfast at the Round House Cafe and then a two-hour drive to Blue Star Equiculture in Palmer, Mass. to visit Sarge, the blind 17-year-old trail horse who went to live there last Wednesday. Sarge got to me, he is a gentle and curious and playful animal, he seems very fond of people and approaches them by smell and sound.
It was touching to see him meet Paul Moshimer, co-director of Blue Star at the Dorset, Vt. Equine Rescue facility in Manchester, Vt. Blue Star has launched a gofundme crowdsourcing campaign to help pay for his feed and veterinary care. They are seeking $12,500 and were up to $5,505 Sunday morning. Help out if you can, $5 is as good as any amount. Blue Star is the future for keeping animals in our world, I believe, finding valuable and healthy for them to do with humans, and treating them and human beings with dignity and respect.
