We had a great time in Williamstown, Mass. and the public library there (a big and beautiful library in a former school setting) and Laura brought her 13-month old daughter Katy to meet Red. Katy loved Red, leaned against him, kissed him on the shoulders. Red was somewhat traumatized by all of the linoleum – he has never gotten used to walking on linoleum, Red is not like the other children. But he was stoic and heroic, he lay on a carpet for awhile, then crawled out and greeted the audience.
More than 50 good people braved yet another winter storm – we had a nail-biter driving home- to hear me talk and meet Red and Maria (I think Red and Maria are the big draw these days). I am loving the “Saving Simon” book tour, it is turning out to be a wonderful book tour, good crowds, great questions, lots of book buyers. A writer could not ask for more.
I was distressed when my publisher did not plan any kind of tour, but that is how life works, this is a good one. Going to Bucks County in March, Iowa in May, Masschusetts and Connecticut in between. I assume it will have stopped snowing by May.
