Jack Metzger is a beloved fixture in my town, his place is right in the middle of Main Street, he scours the farms and estate sales for beautiful old stuff, he knows the story of everything he owns, and he has warehouses full of things. I see his wonderful shop as a theater, he offers a new play every day. Every book I have written since I moved to my farm has been written on a desk that Jack sold to me, he has a genius for matching people and things, and he is an artist in his own right, taking old things and reinventing them.
