Liam is not much of a lamb anymore, he is big and strong and healthy, is is a wether, close to being on his own. He is eating grass, drinking water, still drinking milk. Susie is the best mom I have seen in a long time, she has done a good job. Liam had a rough entry into the world, he was stomped and bitten by a donkey while just two days old, he broke some ribs and nearly died.
He rebounded quickly, and the two were the easiest and most productive births, he was the only one I didn’t have to help and pull out. We have pretty much resolved to find a new home for the sheep, but we are in no rush about it. I love photographing them, and Red loves working with them, and those are two difficult things to give up.
I know Maria is attached to them as well, she loves the ritual of skirting, shearing, selling yarn. Still, we both want to focus on our creative work, our real lives. We have a lot of animals, how much is enough. We are sorting it out.
