I took this photo of Maria – one of my favorite photographs of her – to George Forss and he framed it for me in his framing studio, the sun room on the second floor, he has to dodge the laundry hanging overhead. I asked him to put it in the window so I could photograph it there. I love this photo of her walking in the wind, the sheep walking alongside her, it is like a Willa Cather novel, it captures her sense of isolation, her connection to animals and her love of nature.
We hung the photo over the fireplace mantel in the living room. I am happy to see it there.
