Ma is a good mother, gentle and attentive and very patient. I was a bit concerned today that the lambs are not a bit fatter. Ma is still expressing plenty of milk, but I think she’s tired and she did have a rough time. I’m going to get some supplemental milk in the morning – perhaps goat’s milk – and we’ll supplement their diet a bit.
This is not a crisis, and I am not seeking advice or assistance. I just want to see the bellies a little bigger after a week. Most twin lambs progress more slowly than singles, they have to work a little harder for their milk. I’d like to see Ma put on a few pounds as well, we are supplementing her diet as well. Otherwise, they all look good. A vet is coming to check on the ewes and the lambs, and band Jake, so we’ll get everyone checked out again.
