Kim is an Asian sheep, a Karaluk, there is something beautiful and graceful and vulnerable about her. We all project things onto animals, even when we know better, it is almost impossible not to do it. Kim lost her lamb a month ago, it was stillborn, too early. Sometimes, she will come up and look at me and I imagine her to be looking for her lamb still – she searched for him for a day or so.

I imagine she is really hoping I will bring her hay or grain, but I have to remind myself to do that. Maybe next time, Kim. Maria says people love her because she looks like “Lamb Chop,” a sock puppet created by the late comedian Shari Lewis. Maybe so.
