Red and I returned to the Sugar House this afternoon to spend a few quiet hours with Scott Carrino as he processes many gallons of sap into maple syrup. Once the nights get warm, the sap will stop running off of the trees, the trees will take it for themselves. I helped Scott pour the syrup into jars and screw the caps on, the bottles were plenty hot. Scott and I have become good friends, we trust each other and talk honestly with one another, it is helpful to me, and I hope helpful to him, he is a very good man, a very rare man.
Friendships with men are tough, they have always been tough for me, I am fortunate to spend this time with Scott in his sugar house, and I have to say I love the toddies he makes, I am not sure it’s so good for a diabetic, but I sure left happy.
