I was much impressed by Carmelino, our New York City hotel doorman. He was well dressed for the cold, he was energetic, even creative in his dancing out into the street to hail taxes, his eagerness to help, his cheerfulness. His was the first photo I took with my new lens, the Canon 24-70, widely regarded as one of the best lenses Canon makes. I like the depth of field that blurred the background so the face is clear and the eye is drawn to it. Good lenses do that. New York is a photographer’s feast.
