I wanted to bring you up to date on my Kickstarter Project “Talking To Animals,” one of the most exhilarating of my ventures into new media and world of the modern author. There are 19 days left to go on the project, which means the funding campaign continues, even though I have achieved 142 per cent of my original goal, $9,000. So far, I have raised $12,822 for this project, which has democratically funded by people from all over the world, including people who read my blog, and many who have not.
I am excited about this kind of funding – Maria is thinking about her own Kickstarter project, she has some great ideas about saving vintage fabric – it offers great hope and promise for authors, artists and the very idea of art in our lives.
This is a 15-year project for me, it will hopefully be a landmark effort to share what I have learned about communicating with animals, based on my life with cows, sheep, goats, dogs, cats, barn cats, chickens. Most of the money will be earmarked for new photographic equipment which I need to complete the project and which I already share on my blog and in my books. I expect “Talking To Animals” will be a paper book with a commercial publisher and an e-book, I plan on publishing it late next year.
So I am continuing the funding project, I want to use the 19 days I have left to continue raising money for this project, which I care deeply about. I have offered a new reward – a signed copy of the finished work for those who pledge $80 or more, I hope to get as close to $15,000 as I can get. It makes sense not to waste the time.
I am grateful for the broad support for this week, I think it is a more important project than I ever imagined, I am so excited about it. If you have contributed, thank you, if you wish to contribute in the remaining 19 days, you can do so here.
