Gloomy Days

Gloomy Days

There is simply no other term for the weather we are having than “Gloomy Days,” I am a light and color addict, gloomy days are the worst days for me, they are cold, wet, muddy and then at night, icy and dangerous on the roads. We went from a snowstorm to disturbingly warm weather to a cold and  damp bog, I feel for the animals, they are up to their knees in mud, so are we when we go out to the pasture and it will all freeze hard tonight when the temperature plunges into single digits.

So I’m setting out to capture the beauty of gloom, I would much prefer an upstate blizzard to this reminder that our world is changing, something every farmers know but U.S. Senators don’t. The spiritual challenge is always to find the light, either inside of me or outside on the darkest days. Not there yet, but working on it. Tomorrow the sun will return along with some arctic cold. Light is better than dark.
