Project 1,000: You Did It

You Did It

Connie Brooks just e-mailed me from Battenkill Books to say the 1,000th copy of my new book “Second Chance Dog: A Love Story,” has been purchased through her store, I am heading over there now to see who it was – is is a she – and call her up to thank her personally. This book will be free to her, and we will throw in some other gifts as well.

I am excited about this and proud of it, selling 1,000 hardcover books through a blog and local bookstore is an achievement, a testament to the power of bedlamfarm.com, the loyalty and community of the people who read it and a major goal of new new book there, a new kind of book tour and a substantial gamble for me and my theories of the new world of publishing. I appreciate this very much, and hopefully have communicated that.

Connie wants me to say that you can still buy copies of this book at Battenkill, Maria and I will still sign and personalize them, and we will still offer some give-aways to buyers (not everyone can win, alas, we aren’t that rich) but books purchased after today cannot be guaranteed for Christmas, although they might get there. Books purchased today will get there. You can order them on the Battenkill site or call 518 677-2515. I’ll report back on the winter, this is pretty wild, Connie thought it could not possibly happen, I wavered once or twice but mostly was pretty sure it could happen.

I know the people who read this blog, and they know me, a new kind of relationship between an author and his readers. Be back soon.
