One Hundred Books. Five More Days To Sell Them

by Jon Katz
A hundred books
A hundred books

When I started the new book tour for “Second Chance Dog,” I set a bunch of goals, most of which have been met. The book is in it’s 3rd printing, has been wonderfully well received and is buzzing around as a favored Christmas gift. At the start of this campaign, I set a goal of 400 books to be sold at Battenkill Books, my local bookstore. We rocketed past that, and I set a goal of 600 books, and we sailed past that. So I set a new goal of 1,000 books to be sold at Battenkill and we are about 100 books away from it.

I feel like the ringleader in a circus, we are hustling to promote the book online – contests, videos, Facebook topics, podcasts, bookmarks from George Forss, photos and potholder give-aways. It seems to work. There are just about five days to go to order “Second Chance Dog” from Battenkill and get the book in plenty of time for Christmas. The book is a book about love and commitment and second chances, it ends with a chapter called “The Christmas Miracle.” I’m giving away 20 free paperbacks – ten copies each of “Dancing Dogs” and “Rose In A Storm,” George Forss has thrown into a dozen of his wonderful bookmarks of New York City’s iconic skyscrapers. Everybody can’t win something, but the odds are pretty good with only 100 books to sell by Christmas (hopefully more after that.).

So if you want to get a copy of “Second Chance Dog” at Battenkill, Maria and I will happily personalize it, we have practically moved into Battenkill. You can order the book on Battenkill’s website, they take Paypal and ship anywhere. You can check out some of the early reviews here. You can also call the bookstore at 518 677-2515. Or if you prefer to get the book online or elsewhere, here’s a guide. I know many of you have e-books and your own bookstores to support.

This campaign marks the end of this part of the book tour for, I’ve just gotten fixated on selling 1,000 copies of my new book to this wonderful and worthy independent bookstore. You can buy local, support individuality, keep the corporate behemoths at bay. And give a pretty sweet Christmas present too. And thanks, I know the tour is already a success, I just live by goals.
