Mickey’s world has always been bounded by photography, his mother Norma took some brilliant pictures of children, his step-brother George Forss, who helps care for him, is a world famous urban landscape photographer, when Mickey sees me he stands up and looks at me to see what I want him to do, I tell him I don’t want him to do anything, I just want to capture images of his world, his face.
When he starts to stand up, I put my hand up and he takes a more natural position, seems to forget me, I see he sometimes is anxious to please me, I think we are getting more comfortable with one another, I will do a better job than of capturing his world, for now I just want to capture images of his remarkable face.
This face is weathered, it sometimes looks angry, Mickey is gentle and easy-going, his face somewhat at odds with his inner self.
