The next leg of Minnie’s journey comes today, when we bring her home from the Cambridge Valley Veterinary Clinic. She has been there ever since late Friday afternoon, when we found her hiding beneath a bale of hay in the barn, one leg dangling painfully behind her. We do not know what happened, we believed she was attacked by a raccoon or a possum, her leg was amputated in a three hour procedure on Monday that will cost close to $2,000.
We are trying to figure out where to put here in the house, she will be in a crate for 10 days at least inside while her stump heals. She will need to wear a plastic hood much of the time to keep her from worrying at her stitches. She will then return to her life as a three-legged barn cat. We’ll go get her around noon, and I’ll share the experience, as always.
