On a farm, when a storm likes this approaches, the first thing I do – most people with farms would do – is head out into the pasture, to check on things. Is everything tied down? Are the animals inside? Protected from the wind? I have always gone out into storms with my dogs, with Rose, with Red. The border collies pick up the spirit of things, the sense of things, they look around, check things out, wait. Then it is time – with a storm that looks like this – to get inside and turn off the computer, I can see the lightning coming over the hill and hear the booming thunder. See ya later.
